In today's newsletter, we'll explain some recent developments and take stock as we head into 2022.

Israel is trying to contain an avian flu outbreak that has led to the mass culling of infected poultry. 

- contain: 1) have or hold within 2) control or restrain

- culling: reduction of a wild animal population by selective slaughter

 

Are the thousands of flight cancellations a blunder by the airlines or the consequence of Omicron?

- blunder: a stupid or careless mistake
